Open Optima networking event on 26 February


We’re kicking off a new networking series for Systems Engineers.
The first FREE event will be held on Wednesday, 26 February 2020 at the University of West England (UWE)
Exhibition & Conference  Centre in Filton, North-Bristol.

The theme of the first event is IR35 and the UK’s energy fusion project.

About this event

Join us for an informal evening of networking with fellow professionals, seminars and discussions with our guest speakers on hot topics like IR35 and Fusion Energy and to meet some of our team members from Optima Systems Consultancy. Our trusted recruitment partner, OD Talent Solutions will also join us to run an Recruitment Clinic for anyone who would like advice (CVs, applying for roles or interviewing) and for Hiring Managers who may want to get some free insight on the labour market and how to approach recruiting. They will also be available to discuss employment opportunities and solutions Optima offers for both contractors and those looking for their next permanent role.

IR35 – are you ready?

STEP – the next step in Nuclear Fusion

Neill Young, Facility Chief Engineer & Design Authority for Fusion Technology Facilities (UKEA)

Neill is Lead Systems Engineer for STEP, the flagship project developing a conceptual fusion power plant design and providing a platform for the realistic prospect of constructing a commercially viable power plant by 2040. The Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production (STEP) is the UK Atomic Energy Authority’s (UKAEA) programme to develop the next generation of fusion energy. Optima Systems Consultancy is supporting the STEP programme to implement a Systems Engineering approach to developing a fusion energy generation system that can deliver energy to the grid within 20 yrs. This is the UKAEA’s contribution to flexible, sustainable and carbon neutral energy production for the future and will maintain UK Plc’s position at the forefront of fusion technology.
